Songwriter’s Story

RAIN OR SHINE

In writing Rain or Shine, songwriter James M. Fritz AKA Jimmy Fat Fingers used weather as a heartfelt way to describe lasting love.

The lyric moves through familiar conditions—“sunny and bright,” “hot or cold,” and even “cloudy today, that’s okay”—to show

that love is not limited to perfect moments. Instead, the changing weather becomes a metaphor for the many seasons of a relationship:

joyful days, uncertain days, and everything in between. By framing romance in imagery everyone understands,he created a song that feels

warm, simple, and sincere, turning everyday forecasts into symbols of emotional devotion.

That message reaches its clearest expression in the chorus, where the repeated promise, “rain or shine, you’ll always be mine,”

becomes the heart of the song. With that line, the songwriter emphasizes that true love remains steady regardless of circumstance—whether

life feels bright and easy or overcast and difficult. The chorus reinforces the idea that commitment does not change with the weather;

it endures through every condition. In this way, Rain or Shine becomes more than a love song—it becomes a vow of constancy,

celebrating a love that stays faithful through sunshine, storms, and every sky in between.

Rain or Shine

Sunny and bright, everything’s right

You’re my star in the night

Because of you, I’m no longer blue

I’m so in love with you

Sunrise to sunset, we’re a great duet

In a portrait or a vignette

Like paper and glue, I’m stuck on you

Head over heels for you

Rain or shine, you’ll always be mine

Sunny or grey, we’re on cloud nine

Hot or cold, you’re my sunshine

You will always be my valentine

Rain or shine

Rain or shine

(Whistling)

Rain or shine, you’ll always be mine

Sunny or gray, we’re on cloud nine

Hot or cold, you’re my sunshine

You will always be my valentine

Rain or shine

Rain or shine

Cloudy today, that’s okay

We’ll celebrate our wedding day

You by my side, my love and pride

Soon you’ll be my bride

Sunny and bright, our vows unite

Life’s honeymoon, begins tonight

Love in our hearts, new lives to start

Promise we’ll never part

Rain or shine, you’ll always be mine

Sunny or gray, we’re on cloud nine

Hot or cold, you’re my sunshine

You will always be my valentine

Rain or shine
