BROKEN RODEO CLOWN

***Songwriter’s Story***

“Broken Rodeo Clown” was inspired by the hit TV series “Yellowstone”, especially the story line of Jimmy. a young bronc rider whose injury sends his life spiraling in a different direction. The song tells the story of a former rodeo star who looses his crown, his self confidence, and much of the life he once knew after one brutal fall. It is a song about pride, pain, and the harsh truth of how quickly everything can change. Beneath the rodeo imagery, it is really about a man trying to live with the loss of who he used to be.

Broken Rodeo Clown

I was a bronc busting, rodeo star

Wore my champion crown, near and far

Lived the fastest life around

Women and honky-tonks abound

Then I hit, the ground

1 lost my crown

Now I'm a broken, rodeo clown

Barrel man, from town to town

Don't smile much, I wear a frown

Soft spoken, chain smokin'

Broken rodeo clown

Let her rip - Tater Chip

Eight seconds, that bronc he gave me a flip

That wild horse, he sure was hooky

He bucked me, like I was a rookie

That bronc, thumped me hard

He left me scarred

Now I'm a broken, rodeo clown

Barrel man, from town to town

Don't smile much, I wear a frown

Soft spoken, chain smokin'

Broken rodeo clown

My gal loved me when I was a superstar

Now she's distant and hits singles bars

Damn I was, the very best

My woman, that bronc he did wrest

Gave me, a dirt bath

I met my match

Now I'm a broken, rodeo clown

Barrel man, from town to town

Don't smile much, I wear a frown

Soft spoken, chain smokin'

Broken rodeo clown

Soft spoken, chain smokin'

Broken rodeo clown
